Neue künstlerische Positionen im Local Urban Lab: Es geht weiter

Nach den erfolgreichen ersten Phasen von Turning the Tide in Wien geht das Projekt nun in die nächste Runde. Mit dem Local Urban Lab IV stehen neue künstlerische Positionen in den Startlöchern, die sich erneut mit den zentralen Fragen von Wasser, Stadt und gesellschaftlicher Verantwortung auseinandersetzen werden.

Mit Reinhold Zisser & Sonya Darrow sowie Sebastian Schmidt & Victoria Becker sind zwei künstlerische Teams eingeladen, die unterschiedliche Zugänge zum Thema entwickeln und dabei neue Perspektiven eröffnen. Bereits jetzt zeichnet sich ab, dass die kommenden Projekte sowohl inhaltlich als auch methodisch neue Impulse setzen werden.

Der Fokus von Reinhold Zisser & Sonya Darrow liegt insbesondere auf der Auseinandersetzung mit Wasser im urbanen Raum – mit einem klaren Bezug zur Seestadt Aspern und zur Donau. Dabei werden Fragen von Infrastruktur, Wahrnehmung und ökologischen Zusammenhängen eine zentrale Rolle spielen.

Sebastian Schmidt & Victoria Becker hingegen nähern sich dem Thema aus einer anderen Richtung: Im Mittelpunkt ihrer Arbeit steht die Verbindung von Künstlicher Intelligenz, digitalen Prozessen und deren oft unsichtbarem Wasserverbrauch. Damit greifen sie ein hochaktuelles Thema auf, das neue Perspektiven auf Nachhaltigkeit und Ressourcen eröffnet.

Mit diesen beiden künstlerischen Ansätzen erweitert Turning the Tide sein Spektrum und verbindet klassische Fragestellungen rund um Wasser mit neuen Themenfeldern wie Digitalisierung und Technologie. Beide Projekte werden im Austausch mit Teilnehmer:innen entwickelt und setzen auf partizipative Formate, die künstlerische Praxis und gesellschaftlichen Dialog miteinander verknüpfen.

Die kommenden Monate versprechen spannende Einblicke in neue Arbeitsprozesse, kollaborative Formate und künstlerische Experimente. Wir sind gespannt auf die Entwicklungen und die Ergebnisse der nächsten Künstler:innen im Local Urban Lab IV.

New Artistic Positions in the Local Urban Lab: What’s Next

Following the successful previous phases of Turning the Tide in Vienna, the project now continues with a new chapter. With Local Urban Lab IV, new artistic positions are about to begin, once again engaging with key questions around water, urban space and social responsibility.

With Reinhold Zisser & Sonya Darrow as well as Sebastian Schmidt & Victoria Becker, two artistic teams are joining the project, each bringing distinct perspectives and approaches. Their work promises to introduce new impulses both conceptually and methodologically.

Reinhold Zisser & Sonya Darrow will focus on water within the urban context, particularly in relation to Seestadt Aspern and the Danube. Their work will explore questions of infrastructure, perception and ecological interconnections.

In contrast, Sebastian Schmidt & Victoria Becker approach the topic through the lens of artificial intelligence and its hidden water consumption. Their project addresses a highly relevant contemporary issue, opening up new perspectives on sustainability and resource use.

Together, these artistic approaches expand the scope of Turning the Tide by connecting established themes around water with emerging topics such as digitalisation and technology. Both projects will be developed through participatory formats, linking artistic practice with public dialogue.
